Overview

The Capital Hotel seeks a Restaurant Supervisor for their award-winning food and beverage operations. You must have at least two years of experience in an upscale restaurant, preferably in a leadership position.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Cultivate warm and gracious relationships with guests
  • Arbitrate customer complaints when necessary
  • Oversee all front of house staff and operations to include; hiring, training, coordinating and disciplining
  • Maintain open communicate about daily operations with Managers on Duty
  • Keep restaurant menus updated for dining room and Suite Service
  • Think creatively to find ways to improve procedures
  • Coordinate china, glass & silver counts for special events and holiday meal periods
  • Supervise the organization of the service bar
  • Check completion of all side-work before staff departs
  • In the absence of the Maitre’d, maintain general appearance and ambience of front of house; tables, curtains, flowers, host stand, lighting and music
  • Assist with cellar maintenance: stock deliveries, log low and 86 items, note changes of bin numbers

Skills and Requirements

  • Completion of high school diploma with 2 years previous experience in an upscale restaurant
  • Punctual attendance according to hotel policy
  • Ability to work in and promote a safe and congenial working environment
  • Ability to interact with guests and fellow associates in a courteous, friendly and discreet manner
  • Full knowledge of upscale service, service terms and techniques
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently lift and carry a server tray weighing approximately 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand and walk on a continuous basis for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use standard restaurant equipment, for example: coffee and beverage machines
  • Working knowledge of Micros POS system preferred
  • Ability to handle and be accountable for cash & credit transactions
  • Must meet city, county, state or other legal minimum requirements for selling and serving alcohol
  • Must be able to work positively while under pressure
  • Ability to maintain positive morale and professional attitude
  • Required to pass our background and driving record check
