The Capital Hotel seeks a part time Host for their food and beverage operations.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare the host stand and foyer for the shift with menus, wine lists, etc. Restock host stand supplies as needed
  • Ensure cleanliness of work area and menus at all times
  • Remain near the host stand at all times in order to hear incoming telephone calls and to assist guests
  • Adhere to the proper phone etiquette and hospitality standards as set forth by the Capital Hotel
  • Greet and seat guests upon arrival, assisting with seating by pulling chairs
  • Ensure proper number of place settings according to number of guests before guests reach the table
  • Assist guests with take-out orders
  • Bid a fond farewell & a sincere thank you to guests upon departure
  • ‘Close’ server stations as the MOD dictates
  • Collect, clean and store all menu materials
  • Maintain knowledge of table numbers, pivot points, place settings and appropriate linen sizes
    for different table sizes
  • Work with team to maintain cleanliness of restaurant
  • Take pride in appearance while adhering to Hotel standards as set forth in the Employee handbook
  • Take initiative and act without being asked
  • Contribute to and foster a positive work environment
  • Act as a life long learner, making effort to improve skills, knowledge and education in all aspects of life
  • Work with coworkers and management to implement Capital ideas and drive positive change
  • Take pride in the Capital Hotel core values, representing and respecting them at all times

Skills and Requirements

  • Respect and adhere to Capital Hotel policies as stated in hotel policy manual
  • Ability to lift, carry and move approximately 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand and walk on a continuous basis for extended periods of time
  • Ability to interact with guests and fellow employees in a courteous, friendly and discreet manner
  • Ability to work on a team, promoting a safe and congenial working environment
  • Ability to work efficiently and quietly without disturbing guests
  • Ability to use standard communication equipment, for example: telephones, Word and Excel computer programs and computer touch screens
  • Ability to understand & execute all safety & emergency procedures. Examples: fire,
    crowd control, inclement weather, and bomb threats
  • Ability to work with mild chemicals, for example: cleaners and disinfectants.
  • Must maintain knowledge of the Capital Hotel and its history as well as the greater metro area and current events
  • Must be able to work positively while under pressure
  • Ability to maintain positive morale and professional attitude
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background and driving record check
