The Capital Hotel seeks a Bellman/Valet Attendant.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Act with the highest ethical standards, treating others fairly & with respect
  • Create a strong sense of arrival for hotel, restaurants and event guests by welcoming them to the hotel, opening vehicle and hotel doors and using guests’ last names during interactions
  • Run to park and retrieve vehicles and drives slowly and cautiously
  • Explain parking rates and retrieval procedures to guests upon arrival
  • Ensure vehicles are locked, secured and windows rolled up
  • Ensure valet tickets are filled out completely and legible
  • Ensure keys are logged correctly and hung in the appropriate space
  • Assist with daily shift key audit
  • Assist guests with directions, taxis or other transportation needs, reservations and other inquiries
  • Deliver messages, items and/or guest amenities as requested
  • Escort guests and their registration packets to the Front Desk when Concierge is unavailable
  • Act as the hotel Driver when needed to escort guests to/from their reserved locations
  • Assist guests with their luggage, personal belongings and packages to/from guest rooms and meeting space
  • Take pride in appearance while adhering to Hotel standards as set forth in the Employee handbook

Skills and Requirements

  • Completion of high school
  • Must be a self-motivator
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Ability to drive both an automatic and standard vehicles
  • Ability to count and handle cash
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb and reach on a daily basis
  • Ability to lift and/or move approximately 75 pounds frequently
  • Ability to push and/or pull approximately 100 pounds frequently
  • Ability to maneuver a wheelchair with up to 350 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to work positively while under pressure
  • Ability to maintain positive morale and professional attitude
  • Must be able to pass a thorough background and driving record check
